Another Dundee business targeted

Another Dundee business was targeted for a scam but this time the owner recognized the ruse and hung up.
Dundee police reported the business owner received a call from a person claiming to be from DTE Energy. The person told the target that he was behind on his electricity payments and needed to made arrangements otherwise the power would be shut off at his business.
The business owner told the woman that he was up to date on his bills and knew it was a scam. He then hung up and called police. Reports said DTE officials were aware of the recent incidents and said the phone calls are originating from outside the United States.
Earlier this week a business owner was scammed out of almost $2,000 in a similar incident. DTE officials said the company would not require payments of money cards purchased at retailers.
